A range of evening, weekend and week-long mosaic courses suitable for beginners and intermediate students. Small course numbers ensure a good learning environment. Students are encouraged to develop their practical and creative skills and will gain a good grounding in mosaic making techniques and should complete a small mosaic by the end of the course. Equipment and core materials are provided with more specialist materials available to buy from stock. All courses are run from the Edinburgh Mosaic Studio at Coburg House Studios apart from the residential course in Italy.
Taught by Joanna Kessel MA RCA
Joanna specialises in the design and fabrication of mosaic artworks for domestic and public spaces. Her work is highly regarded and she has undertaken a number of prestigious commissions. She trained at Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal College of Art. In 2010 Joanna received a Creative Development award from the Scottish Arts Council to undertake specialist mosaic study in the north east of Italy. She has continued an annual research / work programme in Italy which she combines with teaching.
